چکیده

Razor is a model-finder for first-order theories presented geometric form; geometric logic is a variant of first-order logic that focuses on “observable” properties. An important guiding principle of Razor is that it be accessible to users who are not necessarily expert in formal methods; application areas include software design, analysis of security protocols and policies, and configuration management. A core functionality of the tool is that it supports exploration of the space of models of a given input theory, as well as presentation of provenance information about the elements and facts of a model. The crucial mathematical tool is the ordering relation on models determined by homomorphism, and Razor prefers models that are minimal with respect to this homomorphismordering.

Exploring Theories with a Model-Finding Assistant

We present an approach to understanding first-order theories by exploring their models. A typical use case is the analysis of artifacts such as policies, protocols, configurations, and software designs. For the analyses we offer, users are not required to frame formal properties or construct derivations. Rather, they can explore examples of their designs, confirming the expected instances and p...

Provenance-based Recommendations for Visual Data Exploration

Visual data exploration allows users to analyze datasets based on visualizations of interesting data characteristics, to possibly discover interesting information about the data that users are a priori unaware of. In this context, both recommendations of queries selecting the data to be visualized and recommendations of visualizations that highlight interesting data characteristics support user...

Catastrophic Impact of Red Tides of Cochlodinium polykrikoides on the Razor Clam Solen dactylus in Coastal Waters of the Northern Persian Gulf

A Cochlodinium polykrikoides red tide occurred in northern coastal waters of the Persian Gulf which killed million tons of fish and benthic animals. This study reports high mortality rate of Solen dactylus (razor clam) populations on the Golshahr coast of Bandar Abbas to show that management and monitoring plans are necessary to prevent future mass mortalities. Specimens of S. dactylus were col...

Provenance-Based Visual Data Exploration with EVLIN

Tools for visual data exploration allow users to visually browse through and analyze datasets to possibly reveal interesting information hidden in the data that users are a priori unaware of. Such tools rely on both query recommendations to select data to be visualized and visualization recommendations for these data to best support users in their visual data exploration process. EVLIN (explori...

Using Provenance to Streamline Data Exploration through Visualization

Scientists are faced with increasingly larger volumes of data to analyze. To analyze and validate various hypotheses, they need to create insightful visual representations of both observed data and simulated processes. Often, insight comes from comparing multiple visualizations. But data exploration through visualization requires scientists to assemble complex workflows—pipelines consisting of ...
